Reasons Why You’re Not Losing Weight

Don’t forget to check out these: How Habits for Weight Loss are Made, Broken, and ReBuilt.

1. You’re Not Keeping Track of What You are Eating

Not keeping track of the foods you are eating is a common mistake.

You have to remember that everything you put in your body counts. Sneaking bites of your kid’s meals, cheat days, and even just a nibble of your favorite chocolate bar here and there can add up if you aren’t tracking it.

Be mindful of your meals and keep track of the foods you are putting in your body.

It will make it much easier to spot what is putting a halt to your progress when you are tracking what you are eating. Remember, every lick, every little bite. It’s all counts.

2. You’re Not Getting Enough Sleep

Sleep is very important when it comes to losing weight.

If you want to optimize your weight loss and your overall health, you are going to need to make sure you are getting adequate sleep each night.

Studies have found that poor sleep can be linked to weight gain (source) in both adults and children. So if you want to lose weight, stop losing sleep.

4. You are Not Drinking Enough Water

I have said it before and I will say it again, not drinking enough water has a huge effect on your weight loss and overall health and wellbeing.

Staying hydrated is a key component to weight loss and can have an amazing effect on your health.

Make sure you find ways to drink more water and work it in as often as possible to your day.

You will find that your hydration levels not only have an effect on your hunger levels during the day but also your energy levels.

5. You’re Not Getting Enough Fiber and Protein

Fiber and protein intake are a key component to fat loss. If your diet doesn’t contain enough of it, you are going to have a tougher time losing weight.

Make sure that you are eating a well-balanced diet and incorporating plenty of lean protein and fiber. Doing this will help you lose weight and keep it off.

Here are 8 easy ways to up your fiber intake.

6. You are Eating Out Too Often

While you may think that what you are ordering out is a healthy option, chances are it is still not as good for you as eating at home.

Most restaurant meals are higher in calories, fat, and sodium than the foods you prepare at home.

Rather than eating out, take the time to create a weekly meal plan. This will keep you accountable, healthier, and help you avoid food boredom.

7. You’re Drinking Your Calories

Fancy drinks and delicious hot beverages are fine once in a while but if you find yourself consuming them frequently this may be why you aren’t losing weight.

Alcohol, fruit juices, and soda all have a negative effect on your weight loss as they are high in sugars.

Even diet drinks sweetened with artificial sweeteners can cause issues as they can trigger food cravings. Whenever possible, stick to water or herbal teas.

Here are 10 Tips to Help Your Stop Sugar Cravings

If you have been attempting to lose weight but don’t see any progress, there are probably reasons for that.

Make sure you are keeping track of what you are eating, getting enough sleep, consulting a holistic nutritionist and drinking enough water. It is also important that you eat a balanced diet high in fiber and lean protein, eat at home as often as possible, and avoid high-calorie drinks.

In the end, you will start to see results. If you need more help, more accountability, and more guidance please send me an email and I’m happy to jump on a consult call about my coaching and meal plan programs with you.
