Balsamic Beet Hummus
I’ve been wanting to create a beet dip for a while now on Randa Nutrition, but I’ve had some fails (3 fails to be exact).
I’ve tried a few beet hummus recipes but something was always missing.
It hit me two weeks ago: a rich balsamic glaze added to the hummus and drizzled over top.
Ingredients Needed
To make this twist on a classic hummus recipe, here’s what you need:
- 1 roasted beet. This will need to be precooked and peeled.
- Canned chickpeas. Aka garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed.
- Tahini. If you can’t find it, it’s ground sesame seeds.
- Fresh lemon juice. Do not use the concentrated version. Either fresh from the lemon or the brand I highlighted.
- Olive oil. I used extra virgin olive oil.
- Garlic.
- Salt.
- Balsamic glaze.
Optional garnishes:
- Feta cheese, it’s delicious and makes the dip pop on the table.
- Parsley
If you have any leftovers, make sure you store it in an airtight container.
Homemade Balsamic Glaze vs Storebought
If you have some extra time to make a homemade balsamic glaze, go for it.
However, I’m usually short on time in my kitchen so I wanted to do something easy and use a store bought balsamic glaze that is already done and ready.
I bought the Nonna Pia’s Classic Balsamic. You can find it at most stores or on Amazon.
There is nothing wrong with store-bought ingredients, especially when you have quality ingredients and it saves you time and sanity.
How to Roast Beets
I made roasted beets during my meal prep knowing I was going to add some to my salads and that I needed one for this recipe.
I wanted roasted beet hummus because roasting the beets give the dip more flavor and sweetness.
There are a number of different ways to roast beets but here is what I did:
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- Wash and scrub beets.
- Wrap the beet in foil.
- Roast for 50 minutes (or until soft).
- Once cool, use a paper towel to scrub the peel off.
- That’s it!
Here is another way to roast beets:
I made this reel on Instagram and TikTok, make sure you follow me over there for more.
If you are making this recipe please remember to roast the beet first!
Is Beet Hummus Good For You?
The ingredients in this recipe for beet hummus are healthy and full of benefits.
However…
As with anything, when you overeat something it can cause some issues like feeling uncomfortable or weight gain (if you do it often enough).
Simply be mindful of how much you eat. Don’t eat the whole batch.

Yes! This particular recipe for balsamic beet hummus is vegan!
If you do want to top it with feta cheese, that would make it non vegan, but just leave that part out.
What to Dip into Beet Hummus
I like to serve this balsamic beet dip in a pretty serving bowl with the following:
- Crackers (strong snack crackers like pita chips, pretzel chips, or a sturdy gluten free cracker)
- Carrots
- Celery sticks
- Bell peppers
- Tortilla chips
- Apples (don’t knock it until you try it)
With that being said, it doesn’t always have to be served as a dip. Try it on salads, as a sandwich spread, and experiment your heart out.
This would also be a great dip to include in a holiday Charcuterie board or any of these unique charcuterie boards.
How to Make Balsamic Beet Dip
You are going to LOVE this recipe for beet hummus. I love the added “oomph” the balsamic glaze gives and it goes with everything!
It’s so easy to make because all you have to do is toss all the ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth.
You can also use a high-powered blender, but it may take a little longer and be a bit of a pain to clean.

Nice recipe that I’ll alter slightly. I’ll leave out the oil, and keep in tahini. For heart health, it’s healthy to use less oil.
Hey Nancy, I’m glad you can alter it to how you want but olive oil is totally heart healthy 🙂
