There are several great things that come with becoming a new mom, but the truth is, it is also a busy time. With all of the tasks on a new mom’s to-do list, it can be difficult for them to find the time to properly take care of themselves. This holds true, especially for their own eating habits. Thankfully though, there are several great nutrition tips for new moms to stay healthy.

For the last 9 months, the foods you chose to eat helped to fuel your body and grow your baby. After you give birth, however, your diet is just as important. Be Kind to Yourself

As a new mom, you now have a brand new terrain to navigate. Your routine is bound to be almost entirely different. Ensure that you find time in your routine to find downtime to enjoy a meal.

It is important that you practice mindful eating, especially during this time. You are going to be tired, but making sure that you give yourself time to sit down and eat will help you to fuel your body so you have the energy to keep going.

Laundry can wait, your health can not.

Meal Plan

Make a weekly meal plan. This is critical to ensuring that you have the ingredients to create healthy meals.

It also limits the time you stand there with the fridge open, wondering what to make for meals, making sure you waste no time creating delicious and healthy meals.

Batch Cook

Cook things like rice, beans, and veggies in large batches ahead of time. This will make it easier to throw together healthy meals all week long. In fact, you can also double cook meals and freeze them for use later.

For example, make double the amount of sauce, soup or stew and freeze a portion. It makes it so easy to pull out a meal, thaw it in the fridge and reheat it.

Drink ALL The Water

It is so important to stay hydrated, especially if you are breastfeeding your little one. This is because the amount of water you drink can have a huge effect on how much breastmilk you produce. It is also important to remain hydrated for your own health.

Whenever possible, sip at water several times throughout the day.

Here are some tips to drink more water throughout the day.

Make Sure to Eat Enough

Eating enough throughout the day is also not only important for your health, but also for your milk supply.

Make sure that you are getting enough healthy meals and snacks throughout the day. Whenever you find yourself getting hungry, even if you just find the time to eat a yogurt, do it.

Keep yourself fed.

Some of my favorite recipes:

Consider Smoothies

Smoothies are incredibly quick and easy to make, especially if you are using frozen, precut and washed items to make them.

Try combining frozen ingredients like cauliflower, kale, spinach, strawberries, blueberries and more to create delicious, healthy smoothies that can act as a full meal.

Take Your Prenatals

While you have already given birth, if you are breastfeeding, you can keep taking your prenatal vitamins. This will help to ensure that you and your little one are getting vitamins and minerals essential to a healthy lifestyle.

When it comes to great nutrition tips for new moms to stay healthy, it is important that you take care of yourself. This is a busy and exciting time but it is also important that you are healthy so you can be the best mom you can be.
