Asian Marinade for Pork Tenderloin
This easy-to-make marinade is great for any protein, it doesn’t have to be only a pork tenderloin marinade.
Pour it over chicken or steak and you’ll have deliciously flavored meat for your meal.
This is a fantastic meal prep marinade too! Whip it up to marinade for Saturday, and cook it Sunday. Or marinate Sunday and cook up when needed.
Pork Tenderloin Asian Marinade Ingredients
- Coconut Aminos. This is called coconut sauce in Canada, but you can also use a low sodium soy sauce.
- Rice vinegar.
- Garlic. I used three large cloves of garlic but measure with your heart.
- Toasted sesame oil. Toasted brings out a deep nutty flavor, I recommend using it over regular sesame oil.
- Brown sugar.
- Green onions. For garnish, this is optional. You can also garnish with sesame seeds.
- Optional: want a little spice? Add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes.
You can either whisk all the ingredients in a bowl and marinate that way, or add it all to a resealable bag, give it a good shake and add the meat.
If you do the latter, place the bag on a plate when you marinate it in the refrigerator. You never know when leaks will happen!
How long to Marinate Pork
If you want the best flavor, marinate the pork at least overnight in the fridge. 12-24 hours gets the flavors deep within the meat.
That being said, I was in a hurry when I was creating this recipe and only marinated it for 1-2 hours and I still had delicious results.
What to do with leftover marinade
If you have any leftover marinade here’s a quick and delicious sauce to try:
- Bring the marinade to a boil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Boil the marinade for at least 5 minutes to kill bacteria, but I like to go a little longer.
- The marinade will reduce into a thick sauce, but you can speed up the process but making a cornstarch slurry by mixing a little water and cornstarch together and adding it in.
Cooking Pork Tenderloin
You can easily make this Asian Pork Tenderloin in the air fryer or roasted in the oven.
Air fryer vs Oven
I cooked one pork tenderloin in the air fryer and the other in the oven, and both with tender and full of flavor.
The air fryer I used for this recipe is this Cuisinart Airfryer Toaster Oven combo, but the cook times should be the same across the board.
The air fryer cooked up a crispy Asian pork tenderloin that was still tender once you cut through, where the oven was tender throughout.
Air Fryer Instructions
If you’re cooking pork tenderloin in the airfryer, set it for 400F and cook for 15 minutes or until the center reaches at minimum 145F for food safety. Let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing into it.
Oven Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400F and roast for roughly 25 minutes or until it reaches temperature. Then let it sit and let the juices settle.
